Meeting people..it is a blessing for sure..

Meet ,Mary Ann and Dave ....

Well , I have been busy getting ready for Canada Day and Privateer Days this coming weekend. Today Monday June 28th the Heaven's opened with down pours of rain. We cleaned the house ,taking advantage of the cooler weather . Some friend's dropped in with company from away , nice of them to bring them here to visit and take a look at my art and share some laughs. Being such a dreary day , I didn't expect to see many people . Chuck had a lot of running around to do for me and he was outside doing something when I heard him say" stay there ,can my wife take a picture"? well, I heard him not knowing what he was talking about ,but I grabbed the camera anyway and ran to the front to see and meet a wonderful couple in their early 60's who are travelling on bicycles from Ontario( google )--- "Mary Ann and Dave's Bike Trip out East ...and back "and follow along with them.

I have said this many times before ,how we believe people are sent to us and we to them, I love it when that happens, it makes my day and my Summer to meet such nice Folk's, our Teacher and Nurse last week, my Helicopter Guy's a couple weeks before, and so on and so on and now Mary Ann and Dave. People like this inspire me , they give a good feeling and make our day when we get to say Hi and in most cases share a energy hug , full of Blessings and a Thank yous for the Memories of a very nice World and People in it ...besides the not so joyful news. Makes it all worthwhile. We offered them our out back "Bunkhouse" their tent and every part of them were wet. Unfortunately we don't have an extra bedroom..otherwise we would have dried them out here, but they need to get all their gear inside and dried out for another day on the road tomorrow , so we directed them to Lanes ... Safe trip Kid's , God's speed....
It is now Tuesday morning and I will assume that Mary Ann and Dave had a dry night under cover . The weather ahead looks good for them for the next so many days.

I have been so busy...

It has been awhile, so much has been going on some very good and one such thing very bad, the worst. A young man who we watched grow into a handsome tall blond 22 year old who had a jest for life and lived it to the fullest ,was killed in a car crash last weekend. I have been pondering whether to write anything about this for days and have set here so many times in this past week and writing some profound things to then delete after. There really are only a few words which need to be said, these words would be" Life is way too short". God Bless his Parents and keep them strong.

Because my heart has been full of tears this long slow moving week I have been finishing up a few smaller paintings for the Tourist season, folk's like these little paintings which they can stick right in their suitcases while travelling.

As well , I finished a painting which may already be sold ,as well, above a shot of it's first sketch.

When not painting out of the sun inside, I was out in the heat and sun planting and tending to my flower gardens. I am baked and getting dark. I try and keep myself covered with clothing sun screen and hats and still I am turning that not so wanted at this older age dark with tan. When I was a teenager I would lie in the sun all day and would never dream of using sun screen. I was not the brightest apple on the tree back then but I was the darkest. No matter how hard I try the sun finds me.

Privateer days as well as Canada day are coming quickly upon us and we are busy with thought as to what we are doing. We will be dressed as Pirates , someone needs to do that job, we want to fly our Pirate flags from our bikes and rape and pillage as much as we can..oh , who am I fooling, all we can do is dress as Pirates and go"Grrrrrrrr me matie" that would be about it at our ages, but we will have a few laughs for sure. The plan is to have a few items for sale down with the festivities, I will only take light things for sale on our bikes, keep it simple, sell from a blanket on the ground as a Pirate should, rather then take displays and all the fuss and muss we did in years past at shows, we will make a day of selling more fun these days then work. My gallery here in our home saves on all the wear and tear on our tired old bodies .

Chuck will be finishing up his wooden spoon spatulas to have for sale that day, they are great tools at an affordable price and I will take anything I can on my bike. I want to gear something up to haul behind my bike and I would love to decorate my bike as a Pirate ship for in the parade ,but??do I have that much energy to do this?...I wish, we will see. I will share here if I do.

Canada Day Chuck and I are going to do sidewalk chalk art with the kid's, that should be great fun. I have an idea for the kid's to do, again I will share with you after the event, some photos.

Yesterday, late in the day we had two fun loving young woman drop by, a Teacher and a Nurse, great friend's who went on a vacation adventure together and we were blessed that they dropped in. What fun we had taking their pictures with "Fred the Fisherman" (dummy) I have sitting against the side of the house. some people have so much fun with him.

People enjoy ,little things like that while travelling, what I call flavor and taste of a community, Dummies like "Fred the Fisherman" add color and they will have fond memories after stopping and having a photo session with him. They as well had their pictures taken with us, how nice and Thank you ladies for dropping in and sharing some laughs with us, you made our day. Drop by for a visit , next time you are in our area. Keep up the good work girl's with students and people who's lives you make a difference in.
Above you can meet "The Girl's" with Fred...as you can see they had a lot of fun with him and he has not been the same since...waiting for their return.

fun day with painting and people

Monday was a day I sat aside for working on my "Harvest" painting, I have a few more strokes yet to be added but thought this AM was a good day to share how he is coming along.
Liverpool ,being on the slower side when it comes to early Tourists arriving, Lunenburg on the other hand has already been a buzz with many people. I have been faithfully open days hoping someone would drop by and share a smile and yes doing business is good, but we all know that there is much more to life then money, now don't get me wrong I need it to get by and never make a fuss when given some. People have come by and these warmer days will bring more. I honestly feel I heal from the Winter 's cold blues , it seems to melt all away as our Summer Season begins and Folk's drop by .
Yesterday was one of those days, I was hard at painting when I had three Helicopter guy's drop by, why when three cute guy's come to my door that gives me a license for a few laughs, now ,I always take the gamble that someone will drop by without a sense of humor but ,come on ,these days with the World out there that some of us read about while other's are slammed right into it, we need to stand back and realize just what is important, and that would be to laugh and joke as often as we can and by all means ,tease the guy's as much as I can. These three gentlemen as soon as they walked in , I knew they were OK with a chuckle or two. The boy's were from Florida and have been in our part of the Country for a few Months working on and with a Helicopter, I didn't ask any details but it sounds to be a very interesting job and I can just imagine how they have spent these past few Months in Nova Scotia.Right Boy's ?
Happy that they took a day to visit our South Shore Liverpool area and drop in on me.
Getting good feedback is so rewarding and that is what I was given by these lovely Gents.
The funny part was that I was still in a chuckle from my weekend with my "Elevator " Boy's and then within two days I had my "Helicopter" Boy's ..what more could a girl ask for. Gee, my husband has a sense of humor himself to put up with my silliness, I guess after all these years ,he knows what he got into, and no worries about anyone taking me too serious.
I have been told so many times that Folk's really feel the Maritimes in my paintings not only because of the scenes I paint but the fact that the wood I paint on gives a feeling of our Nova Scotia sea Shores.
Actually yesterday brought me another young man, he and his young Bride just had a house warming party and were given a print of one of my canvasses , our son was Master of ceremonies at this young couples wedding . He dropped by interested in getting a painting from me for the main focal point in their new living room. Very special indeed to be hung in their home after watching them grow and marry ,knowing them and their parents for all our years on the Medway River..
We were invited for lunch on Thursday by the lovely people who bought our farm. Our Real estate Agent back over three years ago now when we sold found it strange that the day of the House closing we all met at the old homestead to break bread and toast with the folk's who bought the farm. She said this never happens, leave it to us :-)We have been back a few times and have jammed with friends of theirs who play Banjo and Cello. What a lovely feeling to go back and as beautiful as it is and you would not believe the view they have and of course we do miss our lazy days floating on the Medway River, skinny dipping whenever the mood or weather permits, yes those were super duper years but the fact we can go back and feel very pleased with the people who we believe were sent to us, who were meant to take over this special property from us. We love our little gem here in Liverpool don't get me wrong, this house was built by shipbuilders and has a wonderful feel and history as well.
